GO GERONIMO's |
There is more to GO GERONIMO than just promoting better use of car trips! Since our earliest days GO GERONIMO has been promoting the bicycle for transportation as well as recreation.
* We conduct bicycle education programs for students at the Lagunitas School District
* We install bike racks in key community locations
* We restore, maintaine and advocate for bike trails in the San Geronimo Valley
* We plan bike repair classes
* We organize "Know Your Neighborhood" bike rides.
* We function as a bicycle advocacy group. We were a lead organization in successfully urging Golden Gate Transit to install bike racks on buses - with 24 hour a day access. We are also working with other community groups and the County of Marin to design and build a multi-use bridge over the Inkwells just outside Samuel P. Taylor State Park.
* GO
GERONIMO is functioning as a bicycle and pedestrian advisory committee
for countywide planning efforts.
All these and more. At GO GERONIMO we push
for pedal power.
Do you want your child to be able to walk or bike to school? Do you find a particular intersection or road to be especially dangerous? Do you have suggestions for bicycle and pedestrian safety and education programs? Do you want to open the existing tunnel going through White's Hill to bicycle and pedestrian traffic?
The County of Marin and its consulting team (Alta Transportation) is preparing a recommended bikeway and pedestrian system as well as goals and programs that will help guide the development of bike lanes, pedestrian facilities, education and safety programs, and other improvements for the next 20 years. A key goal of the Plan is to identify the highest priority projects through public input. For more information, check out the Marin County Bicycle Coalition's website.
